What does it mean to be new in Christ? 2 Corinthians 5:17 states “ Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come.” The concept of being saved is really a privilege and it should be received with gratitude and appreciation.
When a person is saved, the Holy Spirit performs an inner makeover which explodes from within to the outwards of a person’s personality – enough to be recognized by all those who knew him or her. The vocalist explains it better in the song, “JESUS TOUCHED ME”: Shackled by a heavy burden, ‘neath a load of guilt and shame. Then the hand of Jesus touched me,
And now I am no longer the same.
And oh the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole”
The Holy Spirit will guide you to do right in all ways regardless of the circumstances and this is what Jesus spoke of when he said “Be in the world but not of the world”. The power in His name will manifest in your thoughts and mind to defeat the temptation. The purpose of being saved is to live the life exemplifying the life of Christ – being the light shining in the darkness. This experience of power is like no other, even you will be left in wonder because the“old” you will be no more. Therefore, it is not a game or a play to re-enact, it is a real deal. Most likely one would know the exact moment. And from there on, you will not be the same and you will continue to grow in faith and truth.
Brethren, proclaiming “I Am saved” doesn’t guarantee that one is, until their works or their actions represent that. Jesus says that “You shall know them by their fruits.” The fruits of the spirits are different and visible to many. Once one is pointed out and picked up like a shinny apple from the basket, the life they lived before is removed and wiped out completely.
Being new in Christ means no more jealousy, envy, stealing, malicious thoughts, or the overuse of your body, which is the temple of the Holy spirit (See 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.) You will put to death or abandon all earthly ways and live for Christ.
Being new in Christ means being raised with Jesus and setting your heart on things above where he is, seated at the right hand of God.
Being new in Christ means setting your mind on all things above, not on earthly things, for you died, and your life is now made righteous of God in Christ.. This power grows and guides you to abandon all the things that seem right to everyone and sets you to do things in an opposite way. You will find yourself dressing differently, no more body parts hanging or flashy clothes – modesty will be part of you. Maturing in Christ means changing without being told to do so. Just know that you are presenting the LORD to those who don’t know him.
Being new in Christ allows one to follow a new set of rules and regulations under the ministering of the Holy Spirit to do the Will of the Father. For example, one will be more compassionate, empathetic and will have a concern for others. This is because of the work of the Holy Spirit, which remodels one to a new height in Christ (See (Ezekiel 36:26.)
He says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you. I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
Our Heavenly Father is a loving Father who guides His children to do the right thing by choice through the work of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus left in place to direct and guide us. Jesus left so that the Holy Spirit can come to stay with us always. Which is all to us and it is represented as follows a Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby)as for our needs and is embed in us by the Father and sent in place of Jesus to represent and act on HIS behalf, He teaches us all things. And He helps us to remember everything that He taught us. See (John 14:26).for the exact quote. Being in Christ requires the Holy Spirit actively strengthening you to abandon all the old ways or the things you used to say and do to be all together in a new spirit.
Brethren, being new in Christ is a journey, and it continues to grow. Therefore, strive to please God and not man. He will strengthen you to do his will.
Stay encouraged and strengthened to do the right thing .
NB. Repeat this until you abandon or break off from a habit or Addiction. “I’m a righteous God in Christ. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”.( 2 Corinthians 5:21)
