Peter Oloo Aringo with a name just like his father former powerful Minister Peter Oloo Aringo is a man living in the midst of a posh estate in Nakuru but in a shanty dwelling similar to those found in korogocho or mathare valley.
His troubles began while he was caught in the US doing drug trafficking and was sentenced to 30 years in jail, but was lucky to have the option of being deported and opted for the later.
Upon arrival in Kenya empty handed, he began a downhill lifestyle of drinking and drugs which eventually made him fall from grace to grass unable to afford a beer and eventually settled for chan’gaa and bangi.
He deteriorated and eventually got cancer of the throat which may have been as a result of the cheap drinks that he was accustomed to.
He is now a rehabilitated man but now lives in abject poverty counting his loses as he battle advanced Cancer.
He has no money and lives with his wife who is also a former drug addict who he married a year ago.
Frail Peter has nostalgic memories having tasted good living while attending posh school like Consolata, St Marys Yala and Ayona University in USA, but the end is rather sad. The flashy life he once led now a figment of imagination and with no hope of ever to go back to his opulent past.
Society however will never understand how such a promising life ended so tragically when no one in the Government his father served, failed to make efforts to assist the young man when his life began a downhill trend.
Peter today has only nostalgic memories evidenced by only pictures of his former life while living in posh guarded homes but the idea of ever going to that life again, a far fetched dream and never again a reality.
