Huduma registration at the Embassy in DC has began but unlike the mass hysteria and unjustified excitement seen in Kenyan big and small Towns, Kenyans in USA are not impressed and only a few are trickling to the Embassy to get it.
Many in the Diaspora instantly knew it was not a serious number after witnessing the president posing for camera while smiling which is contrary to conditions for getting official documents in US.
The social media somehow succeeded in cautioning Kenyans not to rush to the Embassy unless someone has money to waste and ADVISED all to wait till the Government fully implement e-passport issuing locations in all States.
The cost of travelling to the mission abroad in DC and LA ranges between Ksh 75,000 to- Ksh 150,000 to get the HUDUMA number.
If one has a family of 4 the total will be in excess of Ksh 300,000 and one wonders whether its shares we are buying.
There are many opposing groups telling Kenyans in the Diaspora not to be forced to get a number that was introduced in a hurry and yet voting in the Diaspora has taken over 20 years to be implemented and the same not likely to happen in the near future.
First and foremost, many enlightened people feels that the identity of Kenyans is at stake as the scheme is controlled by the giant credit card company Master Card.
The Government fails to understand that the card company with their logo embarrassingly displayed next to our country court of arms are not on a humanitarian mission as they will with time benefit from the hidden scheme.
They will later write to all in Kenya and suggest a charge card that will enslave Kenyans forever just like it has done in USA and everywhere.
If we may give you an example, a credit of $1,000 dollars can accumulate to $30,000 in hidden fees spread over 30 or more years.
If you have money and time to waste board that plane to DC but if not, wait until the Government address our Concerns.
We have no concern if the Government devise an effective way for Kenyans to identify themselves but the same should not bear emblems of Mastercard or any other party supplying the technology.
