The Embassy has confirmed that on May 6, a delegation of Huduma personnel will be processing Kenyans to get the HUDUMA number.

The big issue is,…. we have been asking the same Government  without success to facilitate the issuance of mandatory e-passports as all regular ones will expire in the year 2020.

They would always say that there were no funds and one wonders how 6 billion for the exercise was obtained.

Let us hope they come as planned but the question is,… how many Kenyans will be willing to travel to DC, NY and California in those 45 days?

We assume that there are 100,000 people in Diaspora and DC and NY register 70,000 hence it will mean 1,500 people per day.

The exercise will be a total failure and can only be successful if they can combine the same with issuance of e-passports and ID’s so that the trip to DC can be justified.

There will however be many questions as to why the Government has all of a sudden decided to issue a Huduma number when plans were under way to issue new generation ID that will serve as driving license.

There are many speculations but at this time, we cannot comment but our good prediction is that the Huduma registration exercise in consulate centers will be a total failure. Alot of Government resources will be wasted to maintain a team that will only serve a few curious people.

The Government would have educated people first on the need of the Huduma number first but as it stands now it’s another drain to the already ravished economy. The country is already cash trapped and surviving on foreign handouts and loans that will finally not benefit Kenyans but to burden them even further.

We have no idea how many will make it to the Embassy or consulates but as far as we can gauge, it will only be for those near those mentioned consulates that will have the time and money to register for something that is not clear.
