PRAYING FOR KENYA: 2022 Elections Strategically Praying County to County

Pray with Matthew 6:6 (in secret and God will reward you openly). Pray according to the Lord’s prayer. Pray for Church (believers) and Families, and All Tribes by their names and region. Pray for 2022 Elections. Pray for COVID-19- Global Pandemic. We need healing, deliverance, recovery, and a return to normalcy. Politics is about taking sides. This season, I have chosen prayer as my lane. I am not taking sides. In any case, I will not be eligible to vote in Kenya by August 2022.

Why Pray anyway? We do not pray to manipulate God, so if you plan to pray for Kenya, it is my opinion that your prayers cannot be political party prayers. Instead, pray to discover God’s will and to receive power and wisdom to carry it out. You see, God’s will in heaven is already known and established. What remains for us, is to align our earthly desires and passions to God’s heavenly will. Many Christians pray their will, and desire for God’s will to be done. That is a perfect example of manipulating God. Be aware of increased prophecies as men and women are getting ready to join in the race of who will be the one who prophesied. Or we will experience the chaos that ensued in the US when men and women proclaimed and declared mere words as prophecy. To save our faces, we said, they had good intentions. But many years ago, they would have easily been labeled as false prophets.

For 2022 Elections, I have, therefore selected to pray according to the pattern Jesus set in Matthew 6:9 (NKJV). He said in this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

As we start to pray, “Our Father which art in heaven,” we must recognize who we are talking to. Recognize that we are calling upon God the creator of the universe. Our only one and true God. Let us then pray.

Thanksgiving:  Our dear Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for the Kenya Government.  Thank you that there is order in the country within the government. Though not perfect, we have a structure to work with. Thank you for not allowing this government to fall into pieces. We thank you because we know that “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2). We thank for all those who have authority over us.

Forgiveness: Forgive us of our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Both among the citizens and elected leaders, there are times when we have not behaved the way you have instructed us as Christians in this nation. We have compromised, even in our prayers, we are divided across party lines and tribal lines. We pray partisan and tribal prayers. We do not pray according to your will. We want our own will to be done on earth, yet we need to align ourselves with your will as it is in heaven. Forgive us-We know that you will not share your glory with any human being. We, therefore, humble ourselves according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, and cry out to you. We have sinned in our individual lives, in our families, in our communities, in our counties and in this nation. Your word is telling us that if we meet the conditions you have set, to (1) Humble ourselves, (2) to pray, (3) turn from our wicked ways, that Lord you will (4) hear our prayers, and you will (5) forgive us of our sins and (6) you will heal our land. Open our eyes and help us to turn from our wicked ways to the light of your word. May your will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Lord hear our prayer for this season and years to come.

Petition: We pray that all men and women having authority over us will have Godly fear and wisdom. Pour out your spirit upon them and cause them to have integrity, and to be obedient concerning us, especially those of us who are most vulnerable. Remember the women, and the children, orphans, those who are challenged mentally, physically, socially, and economically. Help those who are going through tough times because of this global pandemic COVID-19. We are praying as instructed by the word because we want to have peaceable lives, be able to live in all godliness and honesty according to 1 Timothy 2:2. We are praying that the men and women who fear and honor your name remain in authority. But for those who are wicked, those who do not care for the poor, let them leave. Those who have eaten the bread of the poor, or through corrupt means have stashed money for themselves. Let them who are wicked leave government offices. Father, Let your light shine on their deeds. Expose things done or planned in darkness against this nation. We know that even in our failure, you do not wish for anyone of your people to perish. Deliver us from all evil and wickedness. We pull down all the strongholds of the devil, those satanically energized arguments, ideologies that men hold, and any influences of Satan or ungodly people. We reject and denounce any threats to harm the leaders of this nation during this entire season. We denounce tribalism where it divides you. We denounce threats and intimidation from terrorism through our neighboring country. We say, “May God arise and may His enemies be scattered.” Our enemies are not other men and women. We have a common enemy who works against our progress…that spirit that sows the seeds of discord among citizens. We get along for 4 years, we do business together, and we occupy. We walk into the house of the Lord and worship together.  We even intermarry-we give our sons wives and our daughters husbands from each tribe. Then in the 5th year, we start rumbling…we invoke hatred and division. Leaders make promises that they know they cannot keep. They point fingers at each other.  But we know that God you allow to rise, and you have the power to bring them down. So, we pray that you work in our hearts, replace tribalism with your unfailing love.  We pray that your love will be dominant in our lives above everything else.

Keep us In Remembrance: We remember that this nation was founded by men and women who loved Kenya and loved freedom above many things. Many sacrificed their lives and luxury during the colonial rule and after. There are many who did not live to see this political and religious freedom that we thank you for. Those are the ones who died believing that their deaths meant something. Those are our grandparents who did not live to see Kenya rising from the ashes of civil unrest. Others who lived, were left behind because they were not literate. Some even cheated because they had to sign documents with their thumb print. Yet they gave of their very own lives so that we can live free from colonial oppression.  But now that we do not have colonial masters, we have become worse masters over our brothers and sisters. Did we forget how it was?  Over time many seem to have forgotten where we came.

Yes, we have done forbidden things we should not do. We seem to have forgotten those who need help the most. Corruption is robing us of our faith, family, and values for dignity. We are known around the world for corruption, and not for standing up for what is right for our fellow men and women.

Corruption in the Pulpit: We are all affected by corruption because many times we have looked away instead of helping. As believers we have kept silent. We have used the sanctuary as a store counter. It is from the pulpit where we have gotten rich by prospecting on land. Some have taken other people’s money without due regard that is the bread of the children. But today we pray that you set us free and deliver us from self-destruction. Open the eyes of the current church…help us to see the error of our way and repent. Restore to the Church the joy of your salvation. Father renew a right spirit within the Church in Kenya. We reclaim our voice to preach the uncompromised gospel of the Kingdom of God.

Revive Your Work. Lord we pray that you revive your work in the body of Christ in this nation. Cause the rains of your spirit to flood over us once more time. Touch us your people, revive us and use us once more is the prayer of our hearts. Thank you for raising intercessors that are praying County to county na kuvunja ngome zote za shetani, hata kuharibu nguvu na uwezo wake. Thank you for men and women who are standing in the gap. We know that this nation is held together by their prayers, and by your grace. We refuse bloodshed, especially shedding of innocent for this nation. We refuse for Kenya to go perish during our watchful prayers. We come against all forms of witchcraft practiced among leaders and citizens alike. Help us to rely on your power. We thank you that there are many brothers and sisters across the globe that love this nation. They are standing up with us making prayers of petition to you Jehovah Adonai, Our sovereign Lord. Hear our prayers for this Kenya. May the glory of the Lord be revealed. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. Wherever we live, may we dwell in the house of the Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

Faith:  We pray for increased faith concerning citizens. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). I take your word of Faith and cancel demonic assignments and fearful words spoken in the atmosphere, shared, posted, forwarded, and pasted in social media platforms, especially from the mouths of believers. They are replaced by the WORD of faith. We refuse to be afraid or intimidated. We shall trust in the Lord. We know that “When the ways of a man please God, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Prov. 16:17). May the enemies of Kenya cease from warfare.

Grace: I ask for your grace so that we can maintain prayers for this nation. So that we can be still, and we will see the salvation of the Lord. We desire God’s will to be done. We will not settle for man’s permissive will. Your word tells us that, “Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24). So, I am asking by faith, trusting, and believing. “Let my prayer be set before you as incense, the lifting of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” (Psalm 141:2). Now may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us now and forever. I pray in the Name of the Father, The Son-Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and The Holy Spirit. Amen (Time 05:22 AM on this Saturday morning, October 15, 2021. Amen. Rev.
