A similar scandal has emerged in 2022 under Ruto watch. In 2009, the then Minister for Agriculture, William Ruto, was accused of importing maize under similar circumstances as those which have been applied for the importation of the GMO foods today.
As Kenya imports 10 million bags of maize in Kenya, farmers in Western Kenya and in the Rift Valley, are crying for market to sell the surplus maize they have in their sores.
The decision to import the GMO maize, while farmers in Kenya are crying for the market to sell their maize, the failure of the Kenya Government to use that same money it has used to import the GMO maize from abroad, while Kenyans in Turkana and elsewhere are dying of hunger, with the intention to create room for business for personal gains at the expense of the lives of Kenyans, is the worst corruption scandal ever to be witnessed in the history of Kenya.
How would a government for the people by the people and of the people, watch as children die of hunger, when maize rots in stores of farmers in some parts of the country, because of the lack of market to sell the maize.
It was simply a matter of the Government, to save the lives of Kenyans who died out of hunger, by using what was available in Kenya. All the Government would have done, was to buy the maize from the Kenya farmers in Western Kenya and from the farmers in the Rift Valley, and then go save the lives of those dying of hunger in Turkana and elsewhere.
This being the worst corruption scandal in Kenya’s history, it should be established who is behind it, and who planned to benefit from it? whoever is behind this terrible scandal, should not be spared because he/she, is responsible for the deaths of many Kenyans who have died out of hunger, when there was plenty of food in the country, which would have saved those lives.
