After the burial ceremony, he was interviewed by the media whom he gave inner details of the Deputy President Hon. William Ruto. He explained how William Ruto wanted to push his candidate for the Msabweni parliamentary bye-elections, but his request was denied by the party top organs. With a light touch, he caused laughter to his listeners after disclosing that they had served the Deputy President tea during his two and half visit at Jubilee Headquarters.

He further elaborated that the party had it’s good reason to opt out of the race because the ODM party, had a candidate of no match to the Jubilee Party, and since they have a MOU after the handshake, they had to allow the ODM candidate to proceed.

Mr. Murathe confirmed that Hon William Ruto’s work was taken over by Mr. Matiangi and thereafter, leaving him without much work to do after he started showing no interest in helping President Uhuru to serve Kenyans.  He disclosed that all the work Ruto used to do is nowadays carried out by Mr. Matiangi who holds cabinet committees every Tuesday and Cabinet meetings every Thursday. On that, he stressed that the work of the Deputy President is actually to deputize the President on all matters which means that if he is interested, he still have alot of work to do but he chose to abandon the same, and opted to start early campaigns

“You see the problem with the Deputy President is going round the country launching phantom projects which don’t exist”. “Ruto had made many pledges of Stadiums to be performed by the party without first establishing the source of funds”. “He had talked about many other impossible projects which were not in the Jubilee manifesto”. President Uhuru had to later personally intervene to complete such projects like the Ruring’u stadium among others.

Mr. Murathe said that President Uhuru’s main concern was to leave a legacy of a united Kenya where every tribe can come to the round table to discuss development. It was the reason why President Uhuru accepted to the handshake so that the Presidency don’t continue revolving around two tribes but to also allow others a chance to Rule Kenya.

“Handshake is like marriage, when you marry the second one, the first will feel jealous”.  Mr Murathe said while adding that “The intention of the President however was to work with his antagonists so as to have a conducive environment for all Kenyans to do their work without disruptions of riots”.

He said that the constitution should be amended so that the deputy President’s term end same time as the President and they are working towards that when the constitution is amended.

He told the media that Ruto had all the chances to do all that he is now promising Kenyans to do once he becomes the President because he was in a powerful position but never bothered to utilize the same. “He would even sometimes act as President but did nothing and will not do anything if he has not done it in those eight years”.

He hinted out that William Ruto, through his allies has clearly indicated that he will not vie the Presidency under Jubilee but through his own party and he could as well be on his way out of the Jubilee party and possibly out of the Government.

He concluded by saying that Presidency is not a ping pong ball game or table tennis where Kikuyus and kalenjis will only be the players, but a Government of inclusion where all other tribes can have a chance to rule Kenya, is the way forward.
