Dr. Anthony Fauci, has said that COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over, and Americans are now likely to face mass infection going up to 100,000 new cases per day. It will be further complicated by the campaigns for Presidential elections, and those mentioned numbers, could even go higher.
His statement does not only apply to America, but elsewhere in the world like Kenya, where the pandemic new cases are still rising every day.
He said that the increase in the deadly virus cases, is mainly due to lack of compliance and ignorance in some quarters.
“If you look at what’s going on, and just look at some of the film clips that we’ve seen of people congregating — often without masks, of being in crowds, jumping over and avoiding paying attention to the guidelines that we’ve carefully put out — we are going to continue to be in a lot of trouble, and there’s going to be a lot of hurt if that does not stop.”
People have not stopped congregating, and that is what is causing the spread and if not stopped, we shall go to an all new face of the pandemic.
Currently in America, there are over forty thousand new cases every day as of today, and the number is not declining as expected.
In his sworn testimony to the Senate, he predicted that the cases will soon reach to even more than a 100,000 per day in the near future.
The grim warning came from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the same, should not be taken lightly.
This scenario in America, is not different to what is happening to our country Kenya, as the cases, are also rising every day. If proper measures are not put in place, especially during upcoming Christmas festivities, that are not far off, we shall not be able to contain the situation.
Since the incubation period is not a long period, the Kenya Government should embark on mass check ups combined with a mandatory lockdown and during that period, schools and many institutions should remain closed indefinitely. It must be a total lockdown where there will not be any categorization of essential services to continue (unless mandatory with proper measures), until the pandemic is contained. Here we are stressing that all secretive political meetings, church events, weddings, even while wearing masks, must be stopped immediately.
The corona virus pandemic is not yet over, and we should not rejoice even when numbers start going low, until an effective drug or vaccine is discovered.
Even after the same is discovered, the disease may turn as endemic but with proper drugs or vaccine, we shall at least live with it, just like we have done with other virus related diseases.
