UHURU STATEMENT AT FUNERAL OF KAMAU KABUGI
Today afternoon I joined family and friends of the late Mzee Thayu Kamau Kabugi for his funeral service in Murang’a County.
Mzee Kabugi was an exceptional citizen whose contribution to the growth of our nation is worth emulating.
We must all strive to be honest and work hard towards our goals and aspirations. Stealing of public funds and amassing of illegally acquired wealth is pulling our country backwards; this is not the way to build our nation.
My Administration is committed to the war against graft, and has revamped and strengthened the DCI and the DPP to give them the capacity to handle these cases.
We will continue to work together with the Judiciary to ensure Kenyans get the results they are calling for.
Talk of a man who had terrorized many and would openly tell people not to be engaged in graft and you will be referring to Kamau Kabugi,… for he got saved and started doing legitimate business to eventually become one of the wealthiest men in Muranga.
A very polite man who would always talk of his bad criminal past just to caution people to do things the way they are supposed to be done. He in the process, acquired a nickname that became like his real name “Thayu” meaning peace.
It was good that during the funeral Uhuru talked of corruption and that is something Kamau would have loved to address for he was a reformed man who worked hard to get all he acquired.
