DIASPORA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 254 (DNA) PRESS RELEASE # 27 OF April 16, 2020
In solidarity with our fellow Diaspora Kenyans who are currently undergoing through the worst form of discrimination at this time of COVID-19 pandemic in China, the Diaspora National Assembly together with The Table, have further urged the Kenyan Government to act fast and ensure that our fellow Diaspora Kenyans are not harassed or humiliated.
This is a follow up to our letter that was sent direct to the President of the Peoples Republic of China and copied to the Kenyan Ambassador to China.
The Diaspora National Assembly 254 will continue voicing our concerns and will not rest until the Government creates a Diaspora Ministry to look into the affairs of all in the Diaspora.
The Diaspora National Assembly, aka DNA, is an organization established in the wake of the BBI debate, in order to articulate issues affecting Kenyans in the Diaspora and ensuring that their concerns are not footnotes in the raging National debate. Ours is an effort to seek the elusive unity that is lacking within the Kenyan Diaspora worldwide.
Through constructive engagement, devoid of name calling and character assassination, we use this DNA platform to champion, promote and highlight Diaspora concerns and issues to various departments, embassies and institutions in Kenya and abroad. Through print, social and broadcast media, we will certainly push the Diaspora agenda.
Issues debated on our platforms become resolutions that are forwarded to various departments, Governments, or institution for actions. The DNA has a cabinet that focus and zero-in issues affecting those in the Diaspora and how to highlight and present them to the national government in Kenya.
At this time of the pandemic that has affected all worldwide, we do hope that the Government will act fast to save our fellow Kenyans in China that are facing uncertainty during this time of great danger and hope that they will soon be out of harm’s way and head home peacefully to rejoin their families.
We fail because we do not try!

RE: ASSISTANCE FOR DIASPORA KENYANS STRANDED IN CHINA DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC
We, “the Diaspora National Assembly for 254 (DNA)”, a non-profit organization registered in the USA, representing the Diaspora Kenyans globally & we, “the Table”, a registered CSR trademark for Temic Energy Limited incorporated in Kenya, are hereby requesting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Trade of the Republic of Kenya together with the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, provide immediate assistance to all the Diaspora Kenyans stranded in the People’s Republic of China, due to the ongoing stigmatization and discrimination, because of the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic.
We also communicated to the Government of the People’s Republic of China requesting their President’s political intervention in the matter of stopping the ongoing stigmatization and discrimination, because of the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic. This unfortunate matter is affecting all Africans, including our Kenyan citizens, as cited in the various news headlines making rounds around the globe and as explained in this 30-minute YouTube video: https://youtu.be/yqEFMYVLWgo.
The Diaspora Kenyan citizens who are currently stranded in China fall into three categories, as follows:
- Kenyan students who have been studying in various Universities & Colleges in China
- Kenyan families who have been living & working in China
- Kenyan businessmen and businesswomen who had recently travelled to China
We humbly request that these Diaspora Kenyan citizens, be assisted and facilitated to immediately return home by the Government of Kenya, through the utilization of currently available resources from the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, which was established by His Excellency The President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, to handle all arising matters pertaining to the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic, for all Kenyans, regardless of where they are in the World. Some of these citizens can afford their own travel expenses, thus we request that Air Transport is arranged for them. Once they all arrive in Kenya, they can be put under 30 days mandatory quarantine as per the directions of the Ministry of Health.
We look forward to your most favorable response to the above appeal, as we continue engaging and collaborating positively in the ongoing global fight against COVID-19 Pandemic.
